Back to School...Back to Routine

It's been surprisingly cool around here this week (mid 70's is considered cool for SC!) and it's been a much appreciated break from the hot, hot weather of summer. It's also helped to lift my spirits a bit, allowing us to take a break from the AC, open the windows to get some fresh air in the house and stretch our playtime outside much longer than usual.

The kids began preschool this week, officially ending a fantastic South Carolina summer of camps, activities, beach and lots of learning and play time. Juliana will attend school two mornings a week and Nate, four. So far, so good. Jules was a bit nervous about going, that is until sweet Nate gave her a heart to heart at breakfast yesterday explaining to her that school is fun and that she is going to absolutely love it! And she did!

After I left their classrooms yesterday morning, I got in my car and felt a little overwhelmed by the emotions of all the changes going on in our lives right now. Everything is shifting and adjusting and growing. That of all is the most noticeable. My babies aren't so little anymore.
I also felt a little overwhelmed and excited about all of the things I could do with the looming three hours I had before pick up time: thesis work, grocery shopping, sewing projects, writing, housework, or maybe get a haircut? Wow! So many things to choose from, so many priorities. So thesis work and grocery shopping it ended up being. I know, I lead such an exciting life, don't I?! It was so strange though, the whole morning I kept feeling like I was forgetting something, like I was missing someone, or that the time was wrong and I was going to be late picking them up. I am sure moms all over the country were feeling the same way this week...Maybe I was going through a few growing pains myself.

So, we're back to routine again, back to earlier bedtimes, and back to feeling more accomplished. It's a good feeling, and all in all the Agliata family are, for the time being anyhow, doing just fine.

Greetings from Hartford, CT. I am glad to hear that things are fine. My oldest son starts First Grade this year. I told him to knock out the biggest kid in the class and that would keep the bullies away. No just joking, I would never give such advice.

Oh my word- You're too funny- I hope you wouldn't offer that kind of advice! I hope the school year starts off well for him!
